Attorney Coady-Carter is the managing attorney of Coady Law Group. She focuses her practice in the area of civil litigation, parenting time allocation (custody & visitation), child support, criminal law, and estate planning.
She obtained her undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, where she majored in industrial/organizational psychology. After obtaining her Juris Doctorate from University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, Attorney Coady-Carter returned to her hometown of Taylorville, Illinois and has practiced in Central Illinois for the past 14 years, where she currently serves as the President of the Christian County Bar Association.
Her practice has provided her with extensive experience in a wide variety of legal matters, including estate planning, premises liability, automobile accidents, medical malpractice, toxic tort, products liability, labor law, municipal law, creditor rights, education law, and employment discrimination. She offers legal advice in cases including family and divorce, mediation, estate planning, personal injury, and medical malpractice.
Outside of her practice, Attorney Coady-Carter is actively involved with her family and community. Both Attorney Coady-Carter and Coady Law Group participates with Gen H Kids and Relay for Life of Christian County. She is the proud mother of a son and step-son and is married to husband, Shawn, who serves as a sheriff’s deputy in Fayette County, Illinois.
Attorney Coady-Carter represents clients throughout the State of Illinois in both state and federal court. In addition to her admission to practice through the State of Illinois, Attorney Coady-Carter is also authorized to practice in federal jurisdictions including the Illinois Southern District, Illinois Northern DIstrict Court and Illinois Central District Court.

Marissa Sands is an associate attorney with Coady Law Group. She focuses her practice in the areas of parenting time allocation (custody & visitation), child support, divorce, and estate planning. Attorney Sands represents clients throughout the State of Illinois, including Christian, Sangamon, Macon, Montgomery, Macoupin, Shelby, and Fayette counties.
Attorney Sands received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Greenville College in May 2008. She graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale, Illinois in May 2012. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and Christian County Bar Association. In addition to her legal work, she is an adjunct professor at Greenville College, teaching U.S. Constitution and American Government courses.
While in law school, she received the Bessie Engram Community Service Award and received recognition for her time at Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance from October 2010 through April 2012. She also received an Excellence for the Future Award for high achievement in law school courses. During law school, she interned with Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance where she assisted low income individuals with social security disability and family law issues.
Attorney Sands and her husband, Matt, are members of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church and are very active in several of the church’s ministries.
